letter from the editors - dec. 2021
Hello, beloved readers! Welcome to Snaggletooth’s fifth issue. We’re really excited by the art and writing featured in this issue, and we’re honored and humbled that so many student artists have identified Snaggletooth as a home for their work.
Turns out it’s hard to run a literary magazine when all but two of your staff have either graduated or taken a hiatus. Consider this another “interim” issue before we get back into the groove of producing hard copies of the magazine — we just recently welcomed a wonderful bunch of new staff members, and we’re so excited to onboard them at the beginning of winter semester. We are also starting a reader program for people who want to get involved behind-the-scenes with the magazine! Please let us know if you’re a current Bates student and that sounds like something that interests you. The pandemic kind of stripped the floor from under us, seeing as Snaggletooth is such a new student organization. We’re hoping to be back and better than ever with beautiful physical copies of Snaggletooth at the end of the school year. (Imagine: an in-person reading? During short term??) This isn’t to say we’ll stop publishing the magazine online — of course, all issues are available on the website in some format, but the digital slant of the magazine is here to stay even as we resume print issues.
We won’t bore you with anymore housekeeping, but we did want to keep you all abreast of what we’re up to. We’re so proud of everybody featured in this issue and we’re so grateful you’re taking time out of your day to read it. Happy holidays, may you and yours be healthy and safe —
xo
